We Welcome Your Visit To Texas Sinus Center

We Diagnose and Treat Causes, Not Just Symptoms

We try hard to treat the causes of and not just the symptoms of chronic sinusitis. Years ago it was OK to tell a patient “try this medication and see if it will help”. That was because back then there were not many diagnostic tools to use to help find the causes of chronic sinus problems. As diagnostic techniques have improved, we are much better at determining what is actually causing sinus problems and use treatments tailored to those causes.

Over the years, we have invested in state-of-the-art equipment so we can reach a diagnosis in our office quickly and efficiently. We want to get you on the path to recovery as quickly as possible.

Our in-clinic diagnostic tests include endoscopic exams, allergy testing, and low-dose CT scans. Each of these tests gives us different information about your nose, sinuses and allergies. These tests help us diagnose what may be causing your symptoms. Based on the results, we will recommend allergy treatment, medications, surgery or some combination of all three. Surgery is reserved only for patients for whom medications and allergy treatments have been ineffective. Should surgery become necessary, Dr. Atkins will perform as minimally invasive procedure as possible. As a leading practitioner, researcher, and developer of Balloon Sinus Surgery, Dr. Atkins has extensive experience in these techniques. Although not all patients are a candidate for Balloon Sinus Surgery, it is always Dr. Atkins’ preference to use it whenever possible because it is minimally invasive, saves normal tissue, and allows patients to return to their normal activities faster.
