Sinus Problems Made Simple

Millions of people suffer from sinus problems, but few really understand sinus disease, its causes and the treatment options that are available today.

The sinuses are basically hallow spaces in your head.  There are 4 pairs of sinuses: frontal, maxillary, ethmoid and sphenoid which are lined with mucosa. The mucosa produces mucous which helps clean the nose. Normal sinuses drain this mucous through narrow channels into the nose and back of the throat. This constant clearing of mucous from our nose and sinuses is what helps protect us from molds, pollen, dust, pollutants and germs in the air we breathe.

Sinusitis refers to inflammation (swelling) or irritation of the sinuses.  This inflammation can block the narrow passages in the sinuses and prevent mucous from draining properly leading to infection.

The most commonly experienced sinus-related symptoms are noted below. If you have two or more of the symptoms below consider making an appointment for us to evaluate your sinuses.
